NEW SCHLAGER BLOG LIVE FROM GLOBEN: www.ukschlagerparty.blogspot.com

Welcome to the online home of London’s brand new monthly celebration of all things Schlager. The UKeurovision Schlager Party features the most popular schlager songs mixed in with Eurovision Song Contest classics and recent entries. It is the perfect way to get your weekend started and the place to meet schlagertastic people with the same music taste.

The monthly event takes place on the last Friday of every month at the new and vibrant Soho bar, The Enclave. The venue becomes our regular home and parties will take place on the last Friday of every month. This website has been taken over after the end of the London Schlager Parties. UKeurovision will be filling the void and launching the new schlager events.

Got a venue? UKeurovision is looking to launch the schlager nights across the country. We're looking for bars or clubs in Manchester, Leeds, Belfast, Glasgow and Birmingham, so if you have a suggestion, please get in touch.

What is Schlager?

Schlager music in modern terms is the genre of music that is best described as ‘Abba-esque’. Coming from the German word for “hitter” or a music “hit”, it describes modern traditional pop music, predominantly from Scandinavia. Most schlager fans will point towards the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest selection show, ‘Melodifestivalen’, as the annual source of the best schlager music but many songs in the running to represent Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, and recently Estonia and Latvia are included.

Is there a British Schlager scene? The closest that British pop has got to Schlager since Stock, Aitken and Waterman’s hay day is probably Steps, Deuce, British Eurovision act, Scooch and the odd boyband song.
